BBQ flavored Bison Burger

Lately I’ve been having these weird cravings for burgers. When I lived in California, I had The Counter right near my house so I could get burgers anytime. In Seattle, not so much. There are definitely good burger places but they either don’t have grass fed, are too fancy for a quick weeknight meal or don’t serve a lettuce wrap! Oh the joys of paleo.
Anyways, my weekend consists of going to Costco to grocery shop for the week and I always buy the organic ground beef but this weekend I tried the ground bison. I usually avoid bison because it’s very low fat, which usually means it gets dry, but this time, I thought, let’s try it. Naturally, I was craving burgers, so I created bison burgers!
These are BBQ bison burgers, they use quite a few mix-ins to get the flavor right but they are fairly quick/easy to make and they taste fantastic. Like savory sweet BBQ and no dryness from the bison.
Here we go!

BBQ Bison Burgers

Ingredients:

2 lbs ground Bison meat
¼ cup ketchup
4 tbsp coconut aminos
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp chili powder
1 egg
½ cup almond flour

Method:

Mix all ingredients into the meat and form into patties.
I make mine about 5.5 ounces each.

Grill them on the BBQ, bake them or put ’em on a grill pan!
